Honoring the extraordinary South African women who drive business growth, lead social transformation, champion innovation, and inspire a new generation from Johannesburg to Cape Town and beyond.
South Africa stands at the forefront of women's leadership in Africa, with among the highest rates of women-owned businesses on the continent — exceeding 40% of total business ownership. From the bustling economic corridors of Johannesburg to the innovative tech hubs of Cape Town, South African women are reshaping every sector of the economy.
The legacy of Nelson Mandela and South Africa's post-Apartheid transformation has created fertile ground for women's leadership at every level. South Africa's Constitution — one of the most progressive in the world — enshrines gender equality as a fundamental right, translating into meaningful representation for women in parliament, boardrooms, and community leadership.
South Africa is home to a powerful generation of women entrepreneurs in retail, mining, technology, creative arts, NGO leadership, and financial services. Companies like Woolworths, Shoprite, and Capitec have championed women executives, while new generations of tech founders in Cape Town's Silicon Cape are building Africa's next wave of globally competitive businesses.
The Golden Women Awards South Africa exists to amplify these achievements — shining an international spotlight on the women who are building a stronger, more equal, and more prosperous South Africa. We invite women from Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria, and all nine provinces to submit their nominations for this prestigious global recognition.
